Evolution Super Shootout Announced for 2012 Season

The Evolution Performance Driving School, the number one name in driver’s education since 1993 is set to debut a new solo event format for 2012, the Evolution Super Shootout. This two-day event is a hybrid between SCCA’s National Tour and Pro Solo formats, and takes a portion of each entry and places it into a prize fund to be distributed to the top 10% of the Sunday Super Shootout winners. This format has Howard Duncan VP SCCA Rally/Solo very excited about the possibilities, and we at Evolution look at this as a great opportunity to build the sport, by providing this stepping stone to SCCA National Level Solo.

Kestrel Racing Sweeps Team Competition — Wins Cape Fear Cup!

Wilmington, NC (Kestrel Racing) – Kestrel Racing with its ninth team win to claim its 2nd team autocross championship during the Riverview Grand Prix autocross at the Cape Fear Community College – Downtown Campus. Kestrel Racing beat rival AutoSource Racing by over 1.5 seconds to sweep the series.

Kestrel Racing driver Ken Porteous clinched FTPAX in his 07 Mini Cooper S while team captain Jeff Eng finished second in his 00 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS. Special thanks to Vern Geddings, Dave Jenkins, and Richard Franklin for their class wins and also contributing to the team win.

Kestrel Racing becomes the first team to sweep a season-long series and to win two championship titles in the 3 year old series.

Kestrel Racing Wins at Speedfed Nationals

Rockingham, NC – Kestrel Racing driver Jeff Eng wins at the Speedfed Nationals autocross competition. Driving his #59 SS Motorsports/Workin4U sponsored Miata, Jeff Eng places 1st in TTU class and wins $200. Over 50 drivers competed in the autocross competition for bragging rights and cash prizes.

The Speedfed Nationals Event combines hundreds of top show cars and drivers competing in drifting, drag racing, autocross, and dyno wars.

Remember When: Autocrossing 1981 Style

111981_gazette_autoxThe Sports Car Club of America registered some 74 drivers in 13 different classes during registration Saturday. The autocross sponsored by The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce, Sports Car of America and Miller Brewing Company was the first of its kind ever held in the area. Drivers in ½ mile obstacle course run, run the bext time, handling and overall performance as they raced thru S-curves, eight slalom turns and 180 degree turns Sunday.
